Who We Are
The SEDOL Foundation serves physically and mentally disabled children and their families by supporting those childrens needs, directly and indirectly. Since its founding in 1991, the SEDOL Foundation is dedicated to obtaining funds and other resources, and disbursing them to the special needs children of Lake County. For these families, many of whom are stretched to the maximum both financially and emotionally, the lists of needs is extremely long. |

Distinguishing Between SEDOL
and The SEDOL Foundation
The Special Education District of Lake County (SEDOL) provides children with disabilities (up to age 21) with appropriate educational opportunities. SEDOL covers 400 square miles of territory and serves 36 member school districts with more than 120,000 students.
As wide ranging as SEDOLs coverage is, however, there are things that, by law, SEDOL cannot provide. Thats where the SEDOL Foundation comes in. Working closely with SEDOL to discover the special needs of children and their families, the SEDOL Foundation provides a broad variety of supplemental resources not covered in tax dollars, including:
- Adaptive equipment (wheelchairs, Braille readers, specially equipped computers, etc.)
- Signing classes for families
- Support groups for siblings of special needs children
- Summer camp scholarships
...and more
Read about these and more in the Programs area of this website.
